Year 5 enjoyed a fantastic Neurodiversity Day, filled with learning, discussion, and creativity! Throughout the day, pupils explored what it means to be neurodiverse and celebrated the many ways our brains can think, learn and experience the world.
The children watched a series of videos and took part in thoughtful class discussions, learning about ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, and Tourette’s Syndrome. They showed great enthusiasm and curiosity as they discovered how each condition can bring unique strengths and challenges.
One of the highlights of the day was a sensory circuit in the hall, where pupils experienced a range of activities designed to help them understand the importance of movement, focus, and sensory regulation.
It was inspiring to see how engaged and supportive everyone was throughout the day. To celebrate their learning, all Year 5 form classes will now collaborate on a special neurodiversity canvas artwork (see below), showcasing their understanding and appreciation of everyone’s unique ways of thinking and being.
What a wonderful day of inclusion, empathy, and creativity!
